What's Next in Israel and Hamas War: Israel Plans to Flood Tunnels of Gaza

Since Independence

Israel-Hamas War: According to US senior investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, in the ongoing Israel and Hamas war, Israel is now allegedly planning to flood the underground tunnels of militant groups.

In his blog Simo Hirsch also accused Israel of wanting the city of Gaza another Hiroshima but without using Nuclear weapons. The big question ahead is whether Israel will turn Gaza into Hiroshima.

Pulitzer Prize-winning US senior journalist Seymour Hersh penned in his report that the Israeli administration was actually ready to sacrifice those who might presently be held captives in these tunnels.

He furthermore added that it can be foreseen that the Israeli forces are planning to use America-guided bombs that can pierce up to a depth of 30 to 50 meters to wipe out Hamas underground hostage facilities.

Earlier Israel Defense Force IDF said besides bombing the Gaza Strip they're also targeting the parts of the Hamas tunnel. Israel has many times raised concerns about the Hamas tunnel network under Gaza.

The militant group used the tunnel network to smuggle weapons, artillery, and fighters. Initially, these underground tunnels were used to smuggle goods between Gaza and Egypt and then Gaza and Israel but over time due to increased Israeli monitoring, Hamas started to invest heavily in developing the tunnel network.

It was not until the 2014 military operation in Gaza that the Israeli army discovered the true purpose of these tunnels.

Egypt has also been a sufferer of the underground tunnels

Egypt has also been a sufferer of the underground tunnels built by Hamas. About a decade back the terrorist group ISIS penetrated Egypt using these tunnels and held up deathly terror attacks in Sinai.

In response to all of this, the Egyptian government leader Abdel Fattah El-Sisi began bombing these tunnels.

Egypt did both, air bombing and launched ground explosions to destroy the tunnels. They pumped the water from the Mediterranean Sea and sewage water into these tunnels.

Israel Defense Force not yet ready for ground offensive, says US

Meanwhile, top US officials have said that the IDF was not ready to initiate a ground invasion of Gaza as they lacked feasible military goals.

It was expected shortly after the October 7 attack by Hamas that the IDF may undertake a ground offensive.

Nevertheless, the campaign has been postponed, with some experts blaming USA’s arm-twisting.
