India's javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has won the gold medal for the country for the first time in Olympic athletics. With this victory, this army subedar has ended a chapter of British rule.

In fact, when India was ruled by the Britishers, Norman Pritchard won two medals in Olympic athletics in 1900 while playing for British India. Since then, whenever there was a discussion about the first medal in athletics, the name of this player of the British government used to come up.

But on 7 August 2021, 22-year-old army Subedar Neeraj Chopra has closed this British chapter forever on the strength of a spear. Now the people of the country will take the name of this gold medalist in Olympic athletics with pride.

PM Modi Congratulated Neeraj

Neeraj Chopra is a Subedar

Let us tell you, Neeraj is a Subedar in the 4 Rajputana Rifles Regiment of the army. On Saturday, when Neeraj won a gold medal for the nation, his regiment's comrades also celebrated a lot. In Delhi, the soldiers of Rajputana Rifles and the Indian Army cheered slogans of Bharat Mata on Neeraj's golden victory. After this, the soldiers also sang the regimental song.

Neeraj was directly appointed as Naib Subedar in the army

Neeraj Chopra was selected as a Junior Commissioned Officer in 2016 in the rank of Naib Subedar directly on the basis of his ability. Let us tell you that the Indian Army recruits a player to the post of jawan or non-commissioned officer, but seeing Neeraj's ability, he was directly appointed to the post of Naib Subedar.

The Rajputana Rifles is the oldest regiment of the Indian Army. It was established in 1775, when the then East India Company, seeing the potential of Rajput and Jat fighters of Rajasthan, recruited them in its mission.
