Manipur Assembly Elections Dates Rescheduled, Now Voting to be held on 28 February and 5 March
After Punjab, now the dates of the Manipur Assembly Election 2022 have also changed in Manipur. This information was given by the Election Commission on Thursday (10 February 2022). In January, the Election Commission of India had announced that the Manipur Voting would be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3. Now, the dates for the two-phase assembly elections in Manipur have been rescheduled. Now there will be voting on 28 February and 5 March.
Election date was also changed in Punjab
The Election Commission recently changed the date of assembly elections in Punjab from 14 February to 20 February. The decision was taken following a demand made by the state government and various political parties. However, no change has been made in the date of counting.
Two days ago on February 8, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra held a press conference in Imphal, the capital of Manipur. In his press conference after a two-day visit to Manipur, the Chief Election Commissioner said that at least 487 such polling stations will be set up in the state, where there will be only women polling booth staff. Even the security personnel will be women. The Chief Election Commissioner said that there will be about 487 polling stations in Manipur's five assembly constituencies Singjamei, Thoubal, Yaiskul, Wangkhei and Churachandpur, which will be completely operated by women.
According to the pre-poll survey, BJP can get 31 to 37 seats out of 60 this time. At the same time, the Congress party is seen winning 13 to 19 seats. It has been said in this survey that the National People's Party and the Naga People's Party are estimated to get fewer seats than Congress. NPP can get 2 to 9 seats and NPF seems to get 1 to 5 seats.
BJP government was formed in Manipur in 2017
Five years ago in year 2017, when the assembly elections were held in Manipur, the government was formed under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the BJP won only 21 seats. The Congress had 28 seats. Congress fought the elections in alliance with the National People's Party (NPP) and the Naga People's Front (NPF).
