Voting for 61 seats in 12 districts of the state is being held on Sunday in the fifth phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Instructions have been given to make necessary arrangements for conducting the elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. Today, about 2.25 crore voters will exercise their franchise in the voting, in which 1.20 crore are male, 1.05 crore are female and 1727 are transgender voters.
It may be noted that after the completion of the fourth phase of polling, out of 403 assembly seats in the state, 231 seats have been voted so far and after the voting in 61 seats on Sunday, the voting for 292 seats will be completed. After this, in the last two phases on March 3 and March 7, voting will be held in 111 seats. Assembly elections in the state are proposed in seven phases from February 10 to March 7 and the results will be out on March 10.

Ayodhya: Saints cast their vote
Mahant Gyan Das, chief priest of Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya and other saints cast their vote at a polling booth in the constituency.
A total of 693 candidates are in the fray in this phase, out of which 90 are women candidates. 2.25 crore voters will exercise their franchise in the voting, of which 1.20 crore are male, 1.05 crore female and 1727 third gender (transgender) voters.
