People's dream is to reach the highest point in the world. And Anshu Jamesenpa, a mother of two, did this not once, not twice, but five times.
Climber Jamesenpa is now 41 years old. She is from Arunachal Pradesh. She has conquered the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, five times. This thing is quite surprising. She climbed Everest for the first time on 12 May and after that, on 21 May she again achieved the feat on this peak. She became the first woman to climb Mount Everest twice in a single season. After this, she climbed Everest for the third time in 2013.
In the year 2017, she achieved the feat that many top climbers (male and female) dream of. Jameson achieved the summit of Everest within a span of five days. She did this first on 16 May and then on 21 May. This is a record for a woman to climb Everest twice in such a short time.
In recognition of her achievements, she was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honor.
On 16 May, along with 17 other climbers, she conquered Everest and raised the tricolor at 9:15 in the morning. Then she began the climb on 19 May with Nepali climber Furi Sherpa and continued it almost non-stop till 10 pm. The next morning she started again and then after a break reached the peak at 7:45 am on 21st May. It took her 118 hours and 30 minutes to finish the second climb.
Gemsenpa began mountaineering in 2009. She said I used to do a lot of rock climbing and adventure sports. The Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association, directed by my husband, recognized this and inspired me to take up mountaineering.
In response to this question, She said, The feeling was very good. I found myself closer to God. My hair stood up. The view that was visible from there, you only see in dreams.
