Kazi Sajjad Ali Zaheer, a hero of the Bangladesh Liberation War and Colonel in the Pakistan Army, has been awarded the Padma Shri by His Excellency President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Colonel Zaheer was also deeply saddened by the atrocities on the people living in Bangladesh. The Pakistani soldiers living in Bangladesh also revolted against the Pakistani army to protect their homeland and their people. Colonel Zaheer was also involved in this. After revolting against Pakistan, Colonel Zaheer fled from there to India. He got shelter in India and handed over much intelligence related to Pakistan Army to the Indian Army. After this, along with Indian soldiers, a big operation was conducted against Pakistan. This was the reason why Pakistan had to leave Bangladesh and flee.
Pakistan has been searching for Colonel Zahir since the revolt against the Pakistani army. This is the reason why Pakistan is looking for and India has honored him with Padma Shri, then Pakistan must have got chili. Col Zaheer once told 'The Hindu that "I was sentenced to death, but I managed to reach India by running away. After which the Indian Army saved my life and then later I became a trainer of Mukti Vahini".
