BJP has promised for Bharat Ratna to Veer Savarkar in their manifesto in Assembly Elections in Maharastra . It has become hot topic for the politics. Congress leader and Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Digvijay Singh alleges that Veer Savarkar was named after the conspiracy of Mahatma Gandhi's murder and BJP is planning to offer Bharat Ratna to the Murderer.
Vinayak Damodhar Savarkar was a freedom fighter , Laywer and the Formulater of Hindutva Philosophy. Savarkar was an outspoken critic of Mahatma Gandhi. He criticized Gandhi for being a hypocrite as he supported use of violence by the British against Germany during World War II. He also criticized his appeasement of Muslims at the time of Khilafat movement.
"He was the freedom fighter but was also the person behind Gandhi death", Said Digvijay Singh. During his campaign in Madhya Pradesh for the congress candidate said ," I and Kantilal Buriya has been in politics for so long. Now is the time of my retirement and it might be the last election for Kantilal Buriya too". Opposition parties are continuing attacking BJP for their announcement.
While Congress National Spokeperson, Manish Tiwari also commented on BJP's agenda for veer Savarkar, "After Announcing Bharat Ratna to V.D Savarkar BJP should also offer Bharat Ratna to Ghandhi's murderer Nathuram Ghodse. Many opposition leaders had opposed Veer Savarkar getting Bharat Ratna Award till now.
