The booster shot of the US company Pfizer-BioNtech's corona vaccine provides 95.6% protection against infection. The company has released information about the trial conducted for 11 months on 10,000 people above the age of 16 years. It has been revealed that after taking the second dose of Pfizer vaccine, 84% and after taking the third (booster) dose, infection can be avoided up to 95.6%. Pfizer-BioNtech said that when the Delta variant was spreading rapidly in the world, people were tested at the time. The company's CEO Albert Boerla said that the trial results show that getting a booster shot can be well protected from infection.
The common age of the people involved in the trial can be considered as 53 years. Of this, 55.5% were in the age group of 16 to 55 years, while 23.3% were 65 years of age or above.
The company said that the preliminary data of the trial will be shared with the regulatory agency soon. Many countries have started applying booster shots of corona vaccine to increase the immunity of their citizens. the
The US Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has already approved the introduction of a booster dose of the vaccine in September. However, only people above 65 years of age and people at high risk are being given booster doses.
In early October, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) allowed booster doses for people over the age of 18. In Europe, the EMA is exempted from giving the first booster dose to the age group they want. Israel has asked its medical authorities to administer a booster dose to all people over the age of 12.
