After Chandrayaan-2, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is now preparing for the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Even ISRO has placed a budget of Rs 75 crore in front of it for this. This has been sought only for this mission in addition to the budget already allocated to ISRO. It has been confirmed from the Finance Ministry that the budget for Chandrayaan-3 has been sought by ISRO.

This budget has been sought under the provisions of the supplementary budget for the current financial year. Out of this, 60 crore rupees have been sought for machinery, equipment and other expenses and the remaining 15 crores for revenue expenditure. Sources have said that ISRO has been assured that it will be given money but the process has not been completed yet.

Total budget of 666 crores

ISRO has asked for a total budget of Rs 666 crore during 2019-2020, out of which more than 11% has been sought for Chandrayaan-3 only. Out of 666 crores, 8.6 crores have been sought for the development of 2022 proposed human spaceflight program, 120 million small satellite launch vehicles and 120 crore launchpad. The highest demand has been for the UR Rao Satellite Center and the Satish Dhawan Space Center. Rs 516 crore has been demanded for both.

Chandrayaan 2 could not land

Earlier ISRO had worked on Chandrayan and Chandrayan-2 missions. In Chandrayaan, only one orbiter was sent to the moon, while in Chandrayaan-2, the lander and rover were also sent along with the orbiter. ISRO's mission was to land the lander on the lunar surface but this part of that mission could not succeed due to crash landing. However, the orbiter is circling the moon's orbit and doing its job properly.
