Meta Is Preparing To Open Its Data Center In India, It Can Open In The Campus Of Reliance Industries

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, is likely to set up its first data center in India at the Reliance Industries campus in Chennai. According to media reports, Meta's co-founder Mark Zuckerberg had attended Anant Ambani's pre-wedding function held in Jamnagar in March. That's why he signed an agreement with Reliance regarding this.

The data center will help Meta in processing content generated by users locally on its apps like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. However, no official statement has come yet regarding the deal.

Meta will be able to operate four to five nodes through this campus

Through this campus, Meta will now be able to operate four to five nodes at multiple locations across the country, which will allow faster data processing in India. At present, the data of Indian users comes to Meta's data center in Singapore.

According to experts in this matter, with Meta Local Data Center, apart from content, local ads will also improve the experience of the users. Apart from this, this will reduce the costing of global data centres.

This campus is spread over 10 acres

The 10-acre campus in Chennai's Ambattur Industrial Estate is a three-way joint venture between Brookfield Asset Management, Reliance Industries and Digital Realty. It can cater up to 100-megawatt (MW) IT load capacity.

Mark Zuckerberg came to India in March

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg attended the pre-wedding of businessman Mukesh Ambani's younger son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. This function took place in Jamnagar, Gujarat from 1st to 3rd March. Many other businesses including Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and Adani Group owner Gautam Adani also participated in this function.
