The market opened with a fall on the last day of the trading week. Sensex opened at 55,159.13 points and Nifty opened at 16,382.50. Currently, Sensex is trading 300 points down at 55,300 and Nifty is down 130 points at 16,440.
Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 9 stocks are rising and 21 stocks are trading in the red mark. In which Hindustan Unilever's shares are trading 3% and Asian Paint shares are trading with a gain of 2%.
Metal and banking stocks are under pressure on the market. The metal index is trading with a fall of more than 4%. Vedanta and NMDC are down more than 6% in the index and JSW, Tata Steel is down more than 5%. On the other hand, shares of IDFC First Bank are trading with a decline of more than 3%.
Trading is being done in 3,177 shares on BSE. In which 759 shares are rising and 2,283 shares are trading in the red mark. With this, the total market cap of companies listed on BSE has crossed Rs 239.10 lakh crore. Earlier on Wednesday, the Sensex fell 162.78 points to 55,629.49 and the Nifty closed 45.75 points down at 16,568.85.
Diesel prices declined for the third consecutive day. Oil companies have cut the price of diesel by 20 paise per litre on Friday, but the prices of petrol remained stable today. According to the price notification of state-owned oil companies, the price of diesel in Delhi has come down from Rs 89.67 per litre to Rs 89.47 per litre after the reduction in diesel.
Online bike and car seller company has been listed on the exchange of Cartrade. The company's shares are listed on BSE at Rs 1600, down 1.11% from the issue price. Whereas its listing on NSE is 1.13% below the issue price at Rs 1599.80. The issue price of Cartrade was Rs 1618. The issue of the company opened on August 9 and closed on August 11. The issue was subscribed 20.29 times.
Earlier, mixed trading was also seen in the US stock market. The Dow Jones closed at 34,894, down 0.19%. The Nasdaq gained 0.11% to 14,541 and the S&P 500 lost 0.13% to 4,405.
