On the last trading day of the week, there was a lot of volatility in the stock market. The BSE Sensex closed at 52,344 points with a gain of 21.12 points (0.04%). The NSE Nifty was down 8.05 points (-0.05%) at 15,683 points. The Nifty, which fell to 15,450 during the trading, fluctuated 310 points. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 22 closed with strength. The Sensex rose nearly 1,000 points. Half of its 30 stocks closed strongly.

The focus of investors was on big companies today. The Nifty index, consisting of shares of small and medium companies, was strongly beaten. Nifty Mid Cap fell 1.05% while Small Cap declined 0.88%. The biggest fall of 1.95% in the sector index came in Nifty Energy. PSU Bank, Metal, Realty Auto, Media and IT indices were also weak. Only FMCG and financial sector indices gained marginally.

On Friday, the stock markets gave a strong start. The Sensex opened up 244.74 points and the Nifty 65.1 points. But the edge did not last long. Shares of many Adani Group companies fell sharply. Adani Power, Adani Transmission, Adani Green Energy and Adani Total saw a lower circuit of 5%. Earlier on Thursday, the domestic stock market closed with a fall. The Sensex was down 178.65 points at 52,323.33. Nifty closed at 15,691.40, down 76.15 points.

Mixed trend in Asian markets

Japan's Nikkei index fell 0.19%. China's Shanghai Composite was down 0.01%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng jumped 0.87%. Korea's Kospi closed with a gain of 0.09%. Australia All Ordinaries gained 0.31%.

US market closed with a fall

On Thursday, the US markets closed with a fall. The Dow Jones was down 210.22 points at 33,823.40, down 0.62%. The Nasdaq, however, closed 121.67 points higher at 14,161.30, up 0.87%. The S&P 500 index was down 1.84 points at 4,221.86. Here, the markets of France and Germany closed with a fall.

FII and DII data

According to provisional data available on the NSE, on June 17, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 879.73 crore. That is, he had sold shares worth so much more than the amount of shares he had bought. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) had bought shares worth Rs 45.24 crore.

Market Status

09:15 AM Sensex is trading up 221.22 points at 52,544.55 and Nifty is up 61.05 points at 15,752.45.
