Canada has taken a big decision to keep children safe from Corona. It has been approved to administer 2 doses of Pfizer Corona Vaccine to children aged 5-11 years. This decision was taken after some companies sent applications for clinical trials of thousands of children of this age group. The results revealed that the effect of the vaccine in the age group of 16 to 25 years was the same in the age group of 5 to 11 years.
An official of the Canadian Department of Health said, 'After conducting an independent review of the trial, we want to give the benefit of the vaccine to children as well. The vaccine has been found to be 90% effective even in children aged 5 to 11 years. Apart from this, no serious side effects have also been seen. Till now no security related issues have been reported in this age group and they will be continuously monitored.
About 75% of the Canadian population is fully vaccinated. Of these, 84% are above 12 years of age. Apart from Canada, Israel and the US have also approved Pfizer's vaccine for children. In China, the UAE, Cambodia and Colombia, the vaccine is being administered to children below the age of 12 years. However, the Chinese vaccine is being given to children here.
Canada had previously approved Pfizer's vaccine for children aged 12-15 years. Then it became the world's first corona vaccine to be approved for children. Then in the trials, this vaccine was proved to be 100% effective on 12-15-year-olds. None of those who got this vaccine got infected with the virus.
