The worst-hit Gurgaon district in Haryana has recorded a six times increase in deaths from the epidemic between May 31 and June 11, while the number of cases has increased by more than three-and-a-half times. According to Health Department data, out of about 6,000 cases of the virus in Haryana, Gurgaon has reported more than 45 percent cases and out of 64 deaths due to Covid-19 in the state, 19 patients have died in this district.
Like Gurgaon, the other two affected districts of this virus are Faridabad and Sonipat. As of June 11, the number of cases in these three districts was more than four thousand while 46 out of 64 patients died. As of May 31, there were 774 cases of Covid-19 in Gurgaon, out of which 487 patients were undergoing treatment while three died, but by June 11, the number of deaths had increased to 19 and the number of cases reached 2,737 of which 1,760 patients are undergoing treatments.
According to the department's figures, six people died in a single day on June 11 in Gurgaon and according to this, between May 31 and June 11 in Haryana, cases of coronavirus and deaths from it have increased by more than three and a half times. Till May 31, 20 people died in the state while there were 2,091 cases whose number increased to 64 and 5,968 respectively by June 11.
According to the data, till May 31, the total number of cases in Faridabad was 367 and eight people died while the number of cases increased to 929 by June 11 and 22 patients died. According to this, till May 31, the total number of cases in Sonepat was 199 and one person died while by June 11 the number of cases had reached 502 and the number of dead to reach five. Gurgaon Chief Medical Officer Virender Yadav said that of the 19 patients who died in the district, most of them were either suffering from other serious illnesses or were over 60 years of age.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rajiv Arora said that most of the patients who lost their lives were suffering from other serious illnesses. When asked about the sudden increase in cases especially in Gurgaon and Faridabad, he said on Thursday, "We are vigilant", he further said that more than 75 lakh people live in the four districts of Gurgaon, Faridabad, Sonipat, and Jhajjar, and about 2,600 patients are being treated in these areas, so it cannot be called community dissemination.
