China has tightened limits on the Omicron variant just two weeks before the start of the Beijing Winter Olympics (2022 Winter Olympics). The contentious practice of taking anal swabs, i.e. samples from the anus, has been reinstated. At least 27 people's samples were obtained from the anus at a Beijing apartment, according to the Chinese reports. A 26-year-old lady was among them.
A rectal examination involves inserting a testing kit two inches (5 cm) into the rectum and rotating it numerous times. Before being analyzed in the lab, the swab is withdrawn. Chinese experts think that by doing so, the corona can be accurately evaluated.
Some asymptomatic corona patients, according to Chinese health specialists, recover swiftly. After 3 to 5 days, the virus is no longer discovered in their throat or nose, but it is still present in their body. As a result, by studying samples taken from the anus, the Covid virus can be easily identified. The presence of the coronavirus can be determined more reliably and precisely with an anal swab. Compared to throat or nose swab testing, this approach is more sensitive. It is much easier to determine whether or not a person is infected with the coronavirus.
Because the number of Corona cases in the country has reached its greatest level since March 2020, only select spectators will be allowed to enter the stadium. China halted the sale of general-audience tickets for the Olympics earlier this week. The public has also been excluded from the Olympic torch relay.
The 2022 Winter Olympics will be held in China's capital Beijing, as well as its nearby cities of Yanqing and Chongli, from February 4 to February 20, 2022.
According to a Xinhua News Agency report, Beijing has been put under lockdown since the first Omicron case was reported on January 15. With this, 11 Kovid instances in the capital have been confirmed.
Simultaneously, when the Omicron case was confirmed, the Haidian district's residential sector was blocked, with stringent restrictions enforced to prevent anyone from entering and exiting.
In China, the 'Zero Corona Policy' applies, which means that if a Corona patient is discovered, the harshest lockdown is imposed. People must remain imprisoned in their homes throughout this time. Now that China's reputation cannot be tarnished by any form of neglect during the Olympics, the rule of anal swab has been applied.
