Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to direct the officials of national level top institutes like AICTE, COA, PCI, BCI, NCTE and National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology to support the state government's decision to cancel the examinations. Whereas, he has also demanded that directives should be issued to universities in this regard.
CM Uddhav Thackeray has written in his letter that since the current environment is not conducive for conducting the examination, the Maharashtra government has decided not to conduct the final year and final semester examination of both professional and non-professional courses. The state government also said that the students will be awarded degrees only on the basis of the formula decided by the universities.
He has written in a letter to PM Modi that the Covid-19 epidemic has created many challenges for Maharashtra. Maharashtra has the highest number of corona infected cases in the country and this number is continuously increasing in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Nashik, Akola and Palghar areas. CM Uddhav says that the students and parents of the state are worried about the academic session 2019-20. The current environment is not fit for examination and conducting examination in such an environment can be extremely dangerous.
CM Uddhav wrote to the PM that in the meeting of State Disaster Management Authority on June 18 in the midst of Corona crisis, it was decided that the final examinations of professional and non-professional courses will not be conducted.
