Delhi Police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly black marketing Remdesivir injections. At the same time, six vials of the drug being used in the treatment of COVID-19 patients have also been recovered from them. According to the Delhi police, the accused have been identified as Anshul Aggarwal, Sunil Kumar and Rahul Paul. "Kumar works as a nursing assistant at NKS Hospital in Delhi's Gulabi Bagh area, while Paul works as a nursing assistant at Gayatri Hospital in Gaziabad," the police added.
According to Delhi Police, "The team used a decoy to finalise the deal. Accused Anshul confirmed the availability of the vials at Rs 32,000. He was apprehended when he came to deliver the promised order. On his lead, other two accused also arrested". A case registered under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Epidemic Act and the Disaster Management Act.
India reported 3,66,161 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,26,62,575, the Union Health Ministry reported on Monday. With 3,754 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, the death toll has mounted to 2,46,116. Currently, there are 37,45,237 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.
The country also witnessed as many as 3,53,818 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,86,71,222. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 30,37,50,077 samples tested for COVID-19 up to May 09. Of these 14,74,606 samples tested on Sunday. The total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered stand at over 17,01,76,603 crore, informed the health ministry.
