Bihar government on Tuesday announced the easing of lockdown restrictions after the daily cases dipped in the state. CM Nitish Kumar announced the lockdown restrictions in the state on May 5 in view of ever increasing cases. He made the announcement on his social media handles on Tuesday after a meeting of the crisis management group which reviewed the pandemic situation in the state.

Lockdown ended but night curfew will continue in the state:

In a tweet in Hindi, the CM wrote, "Night curfew will remain in place from 7:00 PM till 5:00 AM. CM Kumar added that private and government offices will operate with 50% capacity till 4:00 PM. Shops will be allowed to remain open 5:00 PM."

In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus infection in Bihar, it was decided to impose a lockdown in the state from May 5 to May 15 in a meeting of the Disaster Management Group chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on May 4. The lockdown was later extended till 25 May and then till 31 May. After this, it was decided to extend the period of lockdown till June 8.

Over 8700 active cases in the state:

So far 5424 people have lost their lives due to coronavirus infection in Bihar after death of 43 more people on Monday. So far 7,13,879 people have been infected. The state now has 8,707 active cases while 6,99,028 people have been cured of the disease so far, taking the recovery rate to 98.02 per cent. Meanwhile, a total of 1.11 crore people have been vaccinated. CM Nitish Kumar said that this arrangement will remain in place for next one week. The chief minister appealed to the people to Bihar to avoid crowded places.
