The Union Cabinet meeting was held at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence on Wednesday. However, this was the first time in 15 months that the Prime Minister and all the ministers were present face-to-face. Almost every week in the lockdown, such meetings were being held only through video conferencing. Earlier, a physical meeting was held in the first week of April last year.
Also in the meeting, it was decided to increase the dearness allowance of central employees from 17% to 28% and to extend the National AYUSH Mission for 4 years. Now it will continue till 2025-26. A total of Rs 4607 crore will be spent on this. 12,000 AYUSH health and wellness centers will be set up across the country. However 6 Ayush colleges, 12 Ayush Post Graduate Institutes will be constructed. In addition, the infrastructure of 10 undergraduate institutes will be upgraded.
PM Modi will also hold a meeting of the Council of Ministers in the evening through video conferencing. This will be the second meeting in a week after the cabinet expansion on July 7. The first meeting of the new Council of Ministers was held on 8 July. Earlier on July 7, 43 ministers had taken oath as ministers. It includes 15 cabinet and 28 ministers of state.
