Coronavirus pandemic continues wreaking havoc worldwide. According to worldometer.com, 196,147,202 cases have been reported so far. Of these, 177,799,195 people have recovered, while 4,196,552 people have died.

Sydney extends lockdown restriction until end of August:

In view of the rapidly increasing cases of COVID-19 in Australia, a month-long lockdown will be extended by at least another four weeks in country's largest city Sydney. The delta variant has been wreaking havoc in Australia since last month. Despite the lockdown, cases of coronavirus have increased rapidly in Australia. Extending the lockdown in Sydney for another 4 weeks, officials have instructed the police to be strict.

In Sydney, an Australian city with a population of more than 5 million, the State Government of New South Wales has announced that the city of Sydney will remain in lockdown until August 28. Hyderabad-based Pharma giant Biological E is likely to launch its COVID-19 vaccine 'Corbevax' by the end of September this year. According to the information received by the sources on Monday, this is an RBD protein subunit vaccine, which is currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials.

More than 43,000 cases reported in India:

India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 43,654 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 3,14,84,605. With 640 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 4,22,022.

The country also witnessed 41,678 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 3,07,63,147. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 97.35 %. On the other hand, India's mortality rate stands at 1.34 %. Meanwhile, the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,99,436. The active cases rate in India stands at 1.31 %.
