The government has partially relaxed the export regulations of medical material 'Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)' kit linked to Covid-19. Permission has been granted to export 50 lakh units of this kit monthly.
The export of this product was completely banned until now, but now it has been put on the banned list of exports. PPE kits are worn by medical personnel engaged in the treatment of Covid-19 infected people to prevent the spread of infection. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a notification, "The export quota for 50 million PPE medical equipment has been fixed for Covid-19 units. The quota was fixed for the issuance of export licenses for eligible units exporting PPE medical equipment.
A separate trade notice will be issued for its eligibility criteria. "It states that other parts associated with the PPE kit will remain on the prohibition list." Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted: "Exports of manufactured goods in India are being encouraged. Permission was granted to export 50% quota of PPE medical kit used during Covid-19 treatment. "
Now MSME industries (micro, small and medium industries) of the country are producing millions of PPE kits every day. He said that people are getting orders for PPE kits from Dubai, Canada, USA and European countries. Recently, AEPC, the body of the apparel export industry, also urged the government to lift the ban on the export of PPE kits.
