Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Friday regarding the situation and vaccination of Corona in the country. In view of the threat of Corona's third wave, the Prime Minister instructed to rapidly increase the supply of oxygen across the country. He also asked the states to keep a necessary stock of medicines.
Considering the possibility of an impact on children, Modi ordered that adequate beds be maintained for children in hospitals across the country. He advised countries to restructure health infrastructure. Along with health care infrastructure, black fungus treatments were also requested to be ready.
The Prime Minister said that to increase the oxygen supply, the number of oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, and PSA plants should be increased rapidly. At present, 961 Liquid Medical Storage Tanks and 1450 Medical Gas Pipeline Systems are being installed across the nation. Instructions have been given to install at least one unit of oxygen in every district.
The PM also reviewed the work of setting up oxygen plants across the nation. So far one lakh oxygen concentrators and 3 lakh oxygen cylinders have been given to the states. The ambulance network is being increased so that at least one ambulance is available in each block.
At the meeting, Modi said genome sequencing should be done continuously to detect new mutations of the virus. The officials told Modi that assistance was being provided from the center to establish RT-PCR labs in 433 districts of the country. This will speed up the test.
Under the Covid Emergency Response Package 2, the Prime Minister called on the provinces to arrange for corona treatment facilities in rural areas. The Prime Minister has taken details from officials about the increasing number of corona cases in some provinces. Also discussed is the progress that has been made so far in the country's corona vaccine.
The Prime Minister called for expediting vaccination. He praised the fact that 58% of India's adult population has been given the first dose of the vaccine. At the same time, about 18% of the adults of the country have also taken a second dose. The PM was also briefed about the vaccine pipeline and its increased supply. Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, Chief Scientific Adviser, Health Secretary, NITI Aayog members, and many important officers were present in the high-level meeting.
