As India fights against COVID-19, Indian Railways' Oxygen Express delivered 510 metric tonnes (MT) of oxygen to Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. "Indian Railways is continuing its journey of delivering liquid medical oxygen to various parts of the country. So far, more than 510 metric tonnes liquid medical oxygen (LMO) have been delivered to Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi", informed an official release.
Haryana government has also requested railways for Oxygen Express. As of now, it is planned that 2 Oxygen Express with a capacity of 5 tankers each will be run specifically for Haryana.
Madhya Pradesh has received its first Oxygen Express carrying more than 64 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen this morning. These tankers unloaded at various locations in Madhya Pradesh in cities like Jabalpur (1 Tanker), Bhopal (2 Tankers) and Sagar (3 Tankers).
Fourth Oxygen Express destined will be reaching Lucknow today carrying three tankers of LMO. Another empty rake is on its way (6th) from Lucknow to Bokaro, which will bring another set of oxygen tanker replenishing oxygen supply to Uttar Pradesh. Continuous Oxygen express to Uttar Pradesh ensuring uninterrupted oxygen replenishment to its residents. So far, Indian Railways has delivered 202 metric tonnes to Uttar Pradesh, 174 metric tonnes to Maharashtra, 70 metric tonnes to Delhi and Madhya Pradesh 64 metric tonnes.
Meanwhile, India reported over 3.60 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases and close to 3,300 related deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 3,60,960 new COVID-19 cases, 3,293 related deaths and 2,61,162 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours. Taking the total active cases to 29,78,709, as per the health ministry update on Wednesday morning. The total count of positive cases now stands at 1,79,97,267 whereas the death toll has soared up to 2,01,187 deaths. A total of 1,48,17,371 people have recovered so far from the disease.
