Telangana Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali was found infected with coronavirus after his test was conducted, whereas he was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday night. Health officials have said that his condition is stable and Ali joined the plantation program 'Harita Haram' along with top police officers on 25 June.
He is the first minister to be infected with the coronavirus and so far, three members of the state assembly have been infected with the coronavirus, all three are leaders of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).
At the same time, a final decision will be taken soon on the strategy to control the spread of the virus in view of the ongoing increase in the cases of COVID-19 in the state, whereas it is also proposed to introduce lockdown again. According to an official statement,
"Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to finalize the strategy in the next three to four days to control the spread of the virus in the area under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)."
Rao said that the government would investigate all relevant issues and take necessary steps, as many issues would have to be considered if it is decided to implement the lockdown again in the GHMC border area.
Rao quoted as saying in the statement, "If a lockdown is enforced, it should be strictly and completely followed." Here, a full day curfew should be imposed with the opening of shops for essential goods for one to two hours only. "
Rao also held meetings with Health Minister E Rajendra and other officials. He said that there is no need to panic about the cases of COVID-19 in the city as all arrangements have been made by the government for better treatment of the affected.
