From the government to health workers, everyone is considering vaccination as the biggest weapon against corona infection. This has also been proved in many types of research. Some such information has come to the fore in a study conducted by the National Institute of Virology (NIV) on vaccination.
According to a report, the vaccine provides up to 99% protection against deaths from the most dangerous and rapidly spreading delta variant of the corona. Research results have shown that only 9.8% of those infected after vaccination required hospitalization, while only 0.4% of those infected died. When a vaccinated person is infected with corona, it is called break throat infection.
Scientists did a study to know why people are getting infected with the virus even after getting one or both doses of the vaccine. The delta variant was confirmed in most of the samples collected for research. However, some cases were also found for Alpha, Kappa and Delta Plus variants. This study of NIV is going to be published soon.
The NIV study revealed that the first case of the delta variant was found in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra in October 2020. This variant is believed to be responsible for the second wave of the corona. For the study, 53 samples were taken from Maharashtra between March and June. The maximum 181 samples were taken from Karnataka and the lowest 10 from West Bengal. Genetic sequencing of these samples was also done to detect the variant of the virus.
For the study, mostly samples of people aged 31 to 56 were taken. Of this 65.1% were male. Symptoms of infection were high in 71% of patients. 69% had fever (common symptoms). 56% of the infected had symptoms of headache and vomiting. 45% had phlegm and 37% had a sore throat.
In the second wave, we saw the horrors of Corona. It showed that it is difficult to estimate how deadly this epidemic can be, but at the same time, it also told us better ways to deal with the third wave. Vaccination is the only way to avoid corona infection. In that too the second dose of the vaccine is the most important. Until you have had both doses, you are not completely away from the risk of infection.
All three vaccines of Corona in the country are double dose vaccines. In such a situation, if you have taken one dose of the vaccine, then definitely take another dose. The second dose of Covishield will be administered 12 weeks after the first dose. If you took the first dose of Covaxin, you can get a second dose between 4 and 6 weeks. At the same time, two doses of Sputnik-V are applied at a gap of 21 days.
