Four members of the Jitendra Gogi gang, who were killed in the September 24 firing at Delhi's Rohini Court, have been arrested by the Delhi Police and three state-of-the-art pistols and 18 live cartridges have been recovered from them.
Police said that the arrested accused include two parole jumpers Sumit (25) alias Sethi, resident of Rohtak in Haryana and Kunal alias Rahul of Barwala, Delhi. The others are Suraj Kumar, a native of Sonipat in Haryana and Karan alias Hans of Baprola, Delhi.
According to the police, a special team of Begumpur police station had launched an operation to tackle street crimes by organized gangs.
The team collected details of several criminals with similar modalities and activated their secret informers to collect information about gangsters involved in cases of robbery/snatching and firearms incidents.
On Saturday, a team led by ASI Neeraj Rana got specific information that two wanted criminals with weapons were travelling in a stolen motorcycle to commit robbery on the helipad road of Rohini.
Acting on a tip-off, the team caught Sumit by laying a trap on Karala Road and Helipad Road. During the search of the accused, a state-of-the-art pistol and 6 live cartridges were recovered from him.
In the subsequent investigation, three of his associates have also been arrested from Sector-34, Rohini, Delhi and two more sophisticated pistols and 12 live cartridges have been recovered from them.
Sumit later revealed that he is out on bail in a murder case and that due to poor family background, he left his schooling in class 8 and came in contact with evil elements. He also confessed that he was involved in another murder in Rohini.
