A case of alleged rape of an 87-year-old bedridden woman has come to light in the Tilak Nagar area of the national capital Delhi. According to the Delhi Police, an 87-year-old elderly woman was sexually assaulted by a man entering the house and fled with her mobile. The incident took place on Sunday night when the woman's daughter had gone out to meet a friend.
On Monday, Additional DCP Prashant Gautam in Delhi Police said, 'On February 13, the victim's family alleged that a man entered their house on the pretext of fixing gas and took away the mobile. On Monday, the victim's family had made new allegations saying that an 87-year-old woman living in their house has been sexually assaulted.
According to the report, the woman lives with her 65-year-old daughter. The family alleges that when the daughter had gone for a walk on Sunday, then an unknown person entered the house and the elderly woman saw her and questioned her, then the young man said that he works in a gas agency and was called home for work . When the woman suspected him and tried to make noise, the accused attacked her, sexually assaulted her and stole her mobile phone and fled.
The police started the investigation, in which an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed under the leadership of an additional DCP rank officer. According to the police, the accused, who works as a sweeper in the neighbourhood and lives nearby, have also been arrested. The accused has been identified as Ankit.
