Suspected Bangladeshi nationals attacked two BSF personnel and took away their weapons while targeting a border post in Meghalaya. One soldier was injured in this attack. Another senior official said another group from neighboring country entered the house of a person from Meghalaya and escaped after looting money, mobile phone and gun. The head of the house was injured in this incident.
Superintendent of Police of West Jaintia Hills Lakadar Syem said the incident occurred at Amdoh and Rongtila at midnight, five kilometers from the India-Bangladesh border. "A group of 10-15 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly surrounded two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel near the Rongtila border post (BoP), snatched their weapons and wounded one of them," he said. '
Siem said that the snatched weapons were recovered from near the forest. Before this incident, another Bangladeshi group entered the house of Pratap Bareh of Amdoh village. The village falls near the Rongtila BOP. The group escaped by robbing money, mobile phones and weapons from the house and injuring one person. Bareh and BSF jawans have been taken to Dauki Primary Health Center. Meghalaya Education Minister Lankhamen Rambui has also condemned the incident. He is a local MLA here.
