An Indian Army officer and three soldiers were killed in a "violent confrontation" with Chinese troops on Monday night in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh, the army gave this information. They said that senior officials of the army of India and China are meeting in Ladakh to reduce tension. The army said in a brief statement, "During the process of reducing tension in the Galvan Valley, there was a violent confrontation on Monday night and during this, an officer and two soldiers of the Indian Army were killed.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has reacted to this clash in Galvan. He said, "The process of violation by China continues in the Galvan Valley. Now the time has come for the country to stand up to these incidents. Our soldiers are not there to be martyred and injured on the country's borders every few days."

He said that the time has come for the Government of India to take some drastic steps. Every sign of weakness from our side gives further impetus to Chinese antics. I stand with the nation to pay tribute to our brave martyrs, the nation stands with you in its hour of sorrow.

Significantly, for the past five weeks, a large number of Indian and Chinese soldiers were standing face to face in the Galvan Valley. The incident comes days after Indian Army Chief General MM Narwane said that troops of both countries were retreating from the Galvan Valley.
