Agni Prime Test-Fired Successfully: In a successful display of cutting-edge technology, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the first night launch of the new generation ballistic missile, 'Agni Prime', as part of its pre-induction testing.

The missile was flight-tested from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha on Wednesday, with the event being confirmed through a statement by DRDO on Thursday.

The test took place at approximately 7:30 pm, showcasing the organization's advancements in missile technology.

DRDO tweeted that the first pre-induction night launch of the new generation ballistic missile, Agni Prime, was conducted successfully off the coast of Odisha on June 7, 2023.

This marked a significant milestone for the users, as it followed three successful developmental trials of the missile, affirming the system's accuracy and reliability.

To capture comprehensive flight data encompassing the entire trajectory of the vehicle, the statement mentioned that range instrumentation such as Radar, Telemetry, and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems were strategically deployed at various locations, including two down-range ships stationed at the terminal point.

The successful flight test was witnessed by senior officials from DRDO and the Strategic Forces Command. This significant achievement paves the way for the imminent induction of the system into the Armed Forces.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Congratulates DRDO and Armed Forces

The success of the New Generation Ballistic Missile Agni Prime was met with congratulations from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who praised both DRDO and the Armed Forces for the exceptional performance displayed during the test.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO, acknowledged and appreciated the dedicated efforts of the DRDO laboratories and the teams involved in the test launch.
