Earthquake tremors have been felt in Jalore, Jodhpur and Sirohi districts of western Rajasthan, especially in the Jodhpur division, in the early hours of Saturday. A day before this, there were tremors of an earthquake in Sirohi as well.
According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake of 4.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale struck Jalore, Rajasthan, in the intervening night of Friday-Saturday. Although there is no news of any kind of damage due to the earthquake, but people sleeping in their homes came out on the streets.
According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale was felt near Jodhpur on Saturday morning. According to the agency, the epicentre of the quake was 150 km south-southwest of Jodhpur. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km from the surface at 2:26 am Indian time. People sleeping in the earthquake area suddenly felt the earth shaking, after which they came out of the houses, and confirmed it by talking to the neighbours and gathering information.
Apart from Jodhpur, mild tremors were felt in Pali, Sirohi, Bhinmal, Balotra, Phalodi, Bap, Khichan areas of Barmer. There is no news of any untoward incident from anywhere so far.
The tremors of earthquakes are being felt continuously for the last two days in Sirohi, a district adjacent to the Aravalli range.
On the night of the 18th also, tremors of earthquakes were felt in areas like Sirohi and the centre of Pali district, Sumerpur Shivganj etc., whose intensity was also measured more than 4 on the Richter scale.
However, the epicentre of the earthquake was Sumerpur adjoining Pali and Sirohi districts. It was measured at a depth of about 20 km from the ground surface.
