The issue of appointment of long-standing permanent teachers at Delhi University seems to be resolved. On behalf of Delhi University Administration, all the departments and college principals have been asked to appoint permanent teachers as soon as possible. Apart from this, the issue of promotion stuck is also expected to be resolved. DU administration has also asked colleges to start promotion process. There will be appointments by Permanent teachers after DU teachers protests for the past one and a half months, although the ad hoc adjustments have not been discussed.

According to DU's former Academic Council member Prof Hansraj Suman, letter principals have been received recently. This letter was taken out when thousands of dharnas were performed at the Vice Chancellor's Office, headed by Delhi University Teachers Association. Appointments are expected to begin next month.

Last month, teachers had laid siege to the office of DU VC, after which HRD relieved them of the threat of ad hoc teachers. But the teachers say that despite the meeting held on 5 December neither the DU administration stepped in for a permanent appointment nor are the college re-appointments being given to the adhoc teachers.

However, now the Assistant Registrar of DU has issued a circular to all departments and college principals to start the process of permanent appointment and promotion of the faculty within a time limit to all the colleges / institutes based on the letter of UGC and MHRD.

The circular also states that adhoc / temporary / contract / guest faculty should be given appointments in colleges until permanent appointments are made.

Hansraj Suman has told that on the basis of this circular, colleges have started work for permanent appointment. So far, about 30 colleges have removed advertisements by passing rosters. The colleges whose advertisements have not yet been sent, have been sent to DU to pass the roster register. As soon as you pass from there, then advertisement of permanent appointments can be issued.
