The formula for sharing of seats between the parties of the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has become "almost certain" on Wednesday, under which Congress can contest 11 parliamentary seats. According to the sources, the coordination of seats can be made within the next few days.
RJD and Congress leaders held long meetings till late night in Delhi, in which discussions regarding the division of seats were discussed to remove the impasse.
A senior Congress leader told "PTI", "The sharing of seats has been decided in the meeting. RJD has given consent for 11 seats for Congress. All the parties involved in the alliance will get full respect and it is possible that the division of seats should be announced on March 17
According to sources, the RJD leader wants to keep the party of the Vikassheel Insaan Party of Ralospa, Hum, Democratic Janata Dal and Mukesh Sahni, in the stalwarts' grand alliance. He is not in favor of giving seats to the Left by arguing that there is a limited base of Left parties in the state. Congress, on the other hand, wants the left parties to be included in the alliance by giving one or two seats.
Significantly, there are 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar out of which BJP has won 22 seats in the last Lok Sabha elections. LJP got 6 seats, while RJD got only 4 seats. JD (U) got 2 seats and Congress won 2 seats. In the Bihar assembly, Congress Legislative Party leader Sadanand Singh said that Congress has strengthened under Rahul Gandhi's leadership. No division of seats will product any problem and I don't 'think that we are dependent on anyone.
