The suspense surrounding the election dates for Maharashtra and Jharkhand has come to an end today. The Election Commission has announced the electoral schedule for both states, along with the dates for by-elections in 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar stated that Maharashtra will hold elections in a single phase on November 20.

In contrast, Jharkhand will conduct elections in two phases, with voting scheduled for November 13 and 20. The results for both states will be announced together on November 23.

It is worth noting that Maharashtra has 288 assembly seats, and any coalition will require 145 seats to form a government. In Jharkhand, there are 81 assembly seats, and any party will need 42 seats to establish a government.

Announcement of By-Elections for 48 Assembly Seats

In addition, by-elections have been announced for 48 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats. Voting for by-elections will take place on November 13 for 47 assembly seats, while voting for the Kedarnath assembly by-election will be held on November 20.

By-Elections for Two Lok Sabha Seats

In addition, by-elections will also be held for 2 Lok Sabha seats, which will take place in two phases. Specifically, voting for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala will occur on November 13, while voting for the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra will take place on November 20.

The results for all these by-elections will be announced alongside the results from the two states on November 23.
