Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has approved the Ordinance to increase reservations for OBC from 14% to 27%. The Madhya Pradesh government has brought an ordinance on Saturday, raising reservations for OBC from 14% to 27%. State law and law minister PC Sharma gave this information. This move is being seen as an attempt by the ruling Congress to do OBC before its upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sharma said, "This ordinance has been issued and it has been notified."

Government officials said that this ordinance was sent to Governor Anandiben Patel on Friday for approval and with this, it has been ensured that this Ordinance is issued before the implementation of Model Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha elections.

This move is being seen as an attempt by the ruling Congress to do other backward classes in their own right before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. In the state, OBC is generally considered to be the BJP's vote bank because BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who is the longest Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, belongs to the same community.

It is to be mentioned that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath had announced the increase in reservations of OBC from 14 percent to 27% in the last few days. Simultaneously, a provision of 10% in government jobs for the economically backward people of the general category is also applicable. This has resulted in the total quota of more than 70 percent (73 percent) in the state.
