Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has faced a crushing defeat at the hands of her rival and BJP candidate Shubhendu Adhikari from Nandigram assembly seat in the assembly elections that ended this year in West Bengal. After losing the election from here, Mamta Banerjee is contesting the by-election from the traditional seat of Bhowanipore.
BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal has alleged that TMC MLA Madan Mitra has deliberately stopped the voting machine at the polling booth of ward number 72 because he wants to capture the booth.
BJP candidate from Bhowanipore seat Priyanka Tibrewal said that the state government is still scared. We are expecting a fair election. Security deployment is very important. Also, Tibrewal will visit the polling stations in the area today.
Voting has started for the by-election in Bhawanipore assembly constituency of West Bengal today i.e. on Thursday. Bhawanipore is the stronghold of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Amidst tight security arrangements and cyclonic storm Gulab, the voters of the area have slowly started exercising their franchise by reaching the polling stations.
