Actor Sonu Sood, who became popular as the 'messiah of the poor' during the lockdown, seems to be in trouble again. The Brihmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has again sent a notice to the actor alleging illegal construction at the hotel in Juhu. Earlier in July, the BMC had served a notice to Sonu Sood to convert his Juhu hotel back into a resident building and remove the illegal construction. After which Sonu Sood had said 'he will renovate this building himself'.
The notice issued by the BMC states that Sonu Sood has not yet renovated the building. The BMC notice said, “You have stated in your letter that you have ceased to live/eat the activity in the existing 1st to 6th floor of the building and the same will be used for the residents as per the agreed planning. Also you have mentioned that necessary work. Also you mentioned that the work required for addition/replacement/relocation is in progress. This office (official of BMC) has inspected the site on 20/10/2021 And it is seen that you have not started the work as per the approved plan so far.
Actor Sonu Sood has responded to BMC's notice and said that his hotel has been converted into a resident building. In an interview, Sonu said that 'we have already changed the building and submitted the details to BMC. Documentation work is going on now and I am not doing any illegal activity.
A complaint was also lodged in this regard at Juhu police station. The BMC had said in the complaint that the actor converted the Shakti Sagar building on AB Nair Road in Mumbai into a hotel without permission. Shakti Sagar is a residential building and cannot be used for commercial purposes. The actor has been accused of enlarging the building's portion, altering the map and usage. According to the complaint, Sonu Sood continued to make illegal constructions even after being served notices.
BMC officials said that Sonu Sood had filed an application in the Mumbai court against the notice, but he could not get interim relief from there. The court gave him three weeks' time to appeal in the High Court. After this, Sood filed a petition in the High Court and said that he will get the construction done regularly on his behalf.
