Mumbai: Bollywood veteran Asha Bhosle has lent her voice to many actresses in her decades-long career, but she loves Helen the most. She smiles and says, "She was so beautiful that the moment she would come into the room, I would not stop looking at her, and instead I would request her not to come in when I am recording! Do you know about that famous story, when I told Helen that if I was a boy, I would have run away and would have married you!"
The noted singer made her digital debut on Wednesday with her official YouTube channel. She started her career in 1946 and continued her work for a long time. She is now 86 years old and will share all her experiences through her channel.
Talking about this new venture, the National Award-winning singer told IANS, "I have sung songs written and composed by many veterans like OP Nayyar, Khayyam Sahab and Shankar-Jaikishan. These are still remembered today, which is a good thing, but I also wish that today's songwriters, musicians and music directors also come forward and get the opportunity to make music. I encourage them if I want to do literature, then I will share my experiences on this channel about how we struggled to make our place. There are those songs who could not be released. I will release them slowly. I want to share them with my fans."
Asha Bhosle launched her YouTube channel on 13 May.
