MSK Prasad on Anushka: Prasad said that the selection committee never gets credit for good work. He said that when the team does well, its credit never goes to the selection committee.
MSK Prasad was the chief selector of the Indian team from 2016 to 2020. Many controversies surfaced in Indian cricket during Prasad's tenure. The controversy surrounding the career of Mahendra Singh Dhoni was also one of them. But one thing about which there was a lot of discussions is associated with the wife of Indian captain Virat Kohli and actress Anushka Sharma.
Now Prasad has finally broken his silence on that incident. The controversy started over the issue of 'giving tea' to Anushka. During the 2019 World Cup, former Indian wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer had said that questions were raised on the selection committee. The engineer referred the selection committee headed by Prasad to the Mickey Mouse Selection Committee. The engineer had questioned the ability of the selectors, saying that during the 2019 World Cup, the selectors were busy serving tea to Anushka Sharma.
Anushka had felt very bad about the engineer and she responded to the former Indian captain on social media.
Now Prasad has given his opinion on this issue. He has said, 'The job of the selector of the Indian cricket team is very difficult. You rarely get credit for your success. You have to face a lot of criticism for selecting players in the team or dropping them on their poor performances. The selection committee was dragged into the controversy unnecessarily regarding the Anushka case. But when the team won the series in Australia without star players, no one gave credit to the selection committee. The compliments received from the team management give satisfaction. Whether people from outside recognize it or not but people inside know what we did.
