Super Dancer Chapter 3: In a recent set of actions over the dance reality show, Super Dancer Chapter 3, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), has served a notice to Sony Pictures Networks (SET India) to submit an action taken report by the next 7 days from the receipt of the notice dated 25 July, 2023, and asked the broadcasters to remove the sexually explicit content from their show.
The commission also warned Sony Pictures Networks not to stream such inappropriate content on their channel in the future.
The commission in the notice remarked that the conversation with the child in the particular video cited above was inappropriate and disturbing for a kids' show.
As per Section 13(i)(j) of CPCR Act, 2005, the commission stated that there had been violations of certain provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and the Information and Technology Act, 2000.
It was also observed that the content violated the guidelines laid down by NCPCR under “Guidelines for Child And Adolescent Participation In The Entertainment Industry And Any Commercial Entertainment Activity”.
In the video, a minor (5-year-old) was asked sexually explicit questions related to his parents by the judges on the stage. The video went viral in no time with the audience demanding that the NCPCR must take action against the makers and the broadcaster for airing such content on a children's special show.
The video shared on the Twitter handle ‘Gems of Bollywood’, carried only a part of the entire episode where the child was subjected to constant mockery by the makers and the judges.
The child was also shown farting in the episode on camera with a mocking background voiceover. He was also asked by the judges if he wore anything under his costume, to which he replied that he was wearing underwear, and the judges laughed at his answer.
The judges did not stop there and asked the minor if his underwear was like his father’s, which even embarrassed the father of the minor in front of the crowd.
The minor then said that his mother spanks his father after removing his underpants, a statement which could have been avoided being aired by the broadcasters, but the channel went ahead in the greed of more views and ratings.
During all this, the father was visibly embarrassed and annoyed because of the constant mockery of his son, but he could not say anything.
The minor’s parents were called on the stage after the performance, where the judges again tried to instigate the child into sexually explicit conversation on a kids' dance reality show.
The child said he loved his parents and often kissed them to show his affection to which one of the judges, Anurag Basu asked If his father kissed his mother.
The question could have easily been avoided by the judges but they went on. The said stated that his father wooed his mother in bed, which embarrassed both his parents on the stage.
His father was then asked if he wanted to say anything, but he was annoyed enough to comment on anything and said that he do not want to say anything and that his child will say whatever he sees.
