Upasana Singh was born on 29 June 1975 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. From here she did her early studies. She obtained a master's degree in Dramatic Art from Punjab University. Since she was only seven years old, she used to do programs on Doordarshan on behalf of the school.
Upasana married TV actor Neeraj Bhardwaj in the year 2009. Both were working together in the serial 'Ae Dille Nadaan'. Both of them fell in love on the set and then they tied the knot.
In the year 1988, Upasana Singh started her career with the Rajasthani film 'Bai Chali Sasare', after which she did Rajasthani, Punjabi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, and Hindi films one after the other. In an interview, she herself had told that there was a time when she used to do 3-3 shifts a day.
