An avalanche occurred in the camp area adjacent to the international border in Kupwara. Two soldiers died due to Avalanche. By the time the army rescued them, both the soldiers had attained to Veeragati. Martyred soldier Akhelish Kumar Patel was a resident of Gondari village of Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. Bhim Bahadur, another martyr, was a resident of Dehradun in Uttarakhand.

Along with this, electricity supply has also been disrupted due to falling pillars of electricity. At the same time, rain and snowfall continues on Thursday. The Meteorological Department on Tuesday had predicted weather and snowfall in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from 5 to 8 November. Fresh snowfall and rain have led to a drastic decrease in temperature from the plains to the mountains and the valley is completely under the grip of cold.
