After the announcement of withdrawing the Agriculture Act, United Kisan Morcha has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the beginning of this letter sent by e-mail, it is written that crores of farmers of the country heard your message to the nation on the morning of 19 November 2021. We noted that after 11 rounds of talks you have opted for a unilateral declaration rather than a bilateral solution, but we are happy that you have announced the withdrawal of all three agricultural laws.

Three black laws are not the only demand of this movement

We welcome this and hope that your government will fulfill this promise at the earliest and in full. You are well aware that repeal of the three black laws is not the only demand of this movement. The United Kisan Morcha had raised three more demands from the very beginning of the talks with the government.

Every farmer of the country can be guaranteed to purchase his crop

The minimum support price based on the full cost of cultivation should be made a legal entitlement of the farmers for all crops so that every farmer of the country can be guaranteed to purchase his crop at least at the minimum support price announced by the government. (The committee formed under your chairmanship had given this recommendation to the then Prime Minister in 2011 and your government had also announced about it in Parliament)

Government had promised that it would be withdrawn

The draft of 'Electricity Act Amendment Bill 2020/2021' proposed by the government should be withdrawn. (During the negotiations, the government had promised that it would be withdrawn, but then it was included in the agenda of Parliament in defiance of the promise)

Lack of a concrete announcement on these big demands

In the National Capital Region (NCR) and its adjoining areas, the Commission for Air Quality Management Act, 2021 should remove the provisions of punishment for farmers. The farmers have been disappointed due to the lack of a concrete announcement on these big demands in your address. The farmers had hoped that this historic movement would not only do away with the three laws but would also get a legal guarantee for the price of their hard work.

Prime Minister, during this historic movement in the last year

  • Thousands of farmers have been implicated in hundreds of cases during this movement. (from June 2020 till now) in many states including Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh. These cases should be withdrawn immediately.
  • Ajay Mishra Teni, the mastermind of the Lakhimpur Kheri murder case and accused of section 120B, is still roaming in the open and remains a minister in your cabinet. He is also sharing the stage with you and other senior ministers. They should be dismissed and arrested.
  • So far, around 700 farmers have given martyrdom during this movement. There should be a system of compensation and rehabilitation for their families. Land should be given on the Singhu border to build a martyr memorial in the memory of the martyr farmers.

We want to assure you that we are not fond of sitting on the street

Prime Minister, you have appealed to the farmers that now we should go back home. We want to assure you that we are not fond of sitting on the street. Also want that after resolving these other issues as soon as possible. We return to our home, family, and farming. If you also want the same, then the government should start talks with the United Kisan Morcha on these 6 issues without delay. Till then the front will continue the agitation as per its schedule.
