First Case of Omicron Variant in America, Person Returned from South Africa found Infected

The risk of the new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, is increasing. Now it has knocked in America as well. A person who returned from South Africa showed symptoms of Omicron. This is Omicron’s first case in the US.

The man had returned to California from South Africa

The US President’s Chief Medical Adviser Dr Anthony Fauci says that the first confirmed case of a new variant of the coronavirus, Omicron, has been reported in a person who returned from South Africa to California. He said the man had been fully vaccinated and experienced mild symptoms, which are improving.

At the same time, after the first case of Omicron was reported in America, the White House in a statement has appealed to Americans to take the Covid vaccine and booster dose.

WHO chief warned

The outbreak of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is increasing in different countries around the world. So far, cases of the Omicron variant have been seen in 23 countries.

World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that so far cases of the Omicron variant have been reported from 23 countries from five of the 6 regions of the World Health Organization. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom has also had a fear that this new variant of Corona will spread to more countries.

Infection uncontrollable in South Africa

Since the identification of the new variant of Covid, Omicron, there has been a staggering 403 per cent increase in cases of infection from Covid in South Africa. Apart from this, the infection rate has also crossed 10 per cent. At the same time, 87 per cent of those admitted to the hospital have not been vaccinated.

Abdul-Karim, South Africa’s top epidemiologist, said there could be more than 10,000 daily infections by the end of the week, putting a huge strain on hospitals over the next two to three weeks. He advised stopping crowded events to control the spread of the virus, saying that the situation of super-spreading can spin the situation out of control.
