Five jawans including a Junior Command Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army have been martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Poonch, Jammu, and Kashmir. According to a tweet by news agency ANI quoting army sources, on Monday, during the operation being conducted against terrorist activities in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, army personnel had an encounter with terrorists. Their encounter took place in the forests of the Poonch sector. At least five terrorists are currently hiding in this forest.
Earlier, on Monday morning, an encounter between security forces and terrorists started in Gund Jahangir of Hajin area of Bandipora, Jammu, and Kashmir, in which one terrorist was killed. Besides this, an unidentified terrorist was killed in the second encounter in the Verinag area of Anantnag. However, this encounter of security forces with terrorists started during a search operation.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the terrorist killed in the Gund Jahangir area of Bandipora has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar of TRF, affiliated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar. The slain terrorist was involved in the killing of a person in Shahgund, Bandipora.
He said that the encounter started on Monday in Gund Jahangir of Hajin area of Bandipora. The encounter between the police and the security forces is going on. Jammu and Kashmir Police said that the search operation was being carried out on the tip-off about the presence of terrorists in this area. During this, an encounter took place between the terrorists and the security forces.
Earlier, terrorists and policemen had an encounter during a search operation. This encounter took place in Khagund of Verinag area of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. An unidentified terrorist was killed in this, while police personnel was also injured. Search operation is still going on in this area.
