The winter session of Parliament is starting from 29th of this month. There is information quoting sources that the government may bring a bill on cryptocurrency in this session. This information has come out quoting PTI news agency.
There is a concern in the country regarding cryptocurrency. A meeting of the Parliamentary Committee chaired by former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha was held today, in which the MPs said that banning cryptocurrency does not seem possible, but rules should be made to control it.
Significantly, it is feared to be used all over the world to attract investors with misleading claims and to finance terror. Right now there is no law regarding cryptocurrency in the country. The government has not even banned cryptocurrencies yet, due to which there is confusion about it.
To remove the confusion that remains regarding cryptocurrency, the government is going to make rules regarding it and is going to bring a bill in the winter session of Parliament. It is to be known that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with senior officials on cryptocurrency on Saturday. The Governor of RBI was also involved in this meeting.
The government believes that cryptocurrency is a technology that is constantly evolving. Therefore, necessary steps will be taken to keep a close watch on it. It has been agreed in the meeting that whatever steps the government will take on this issue, they will be taken progressive and keep the future in mind. In this matter, the government will continue to interact with experts and other stakeholders. Because this matter is above the boundaries of countries, so global partnership and common strategy will also be made.
It is clear from this that the government will soon make laws on cryptocurrencies. According to sources, after the approval of the Union Cabinet, the government will present this bill in Parliament. The winter session of Parliament will begin from November 29 and will continue till December 23.
