While modeling, Mahima used to work as a VJ in the music channel. During a program, popular director Subhash Ghai caught sight of him and he signed Mahima for his film. This film was Shahrukh Khan's Pardes. Subhash Ghai was looking for a fresh face for this film for which he had auditioned more than 3000 girls, however, his search ended on seeing Mahima.
Seeing the best performance of her in the first film, she was awarded the Filmfare Best Actress Debut Award. After this, the actress appeared in dozens of films like Daag The Fire, Dhadkan, Kurukshetra, Lajja, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Om Jai Jagdish and Dhadkan. The actress initially got popularity, although her name could never be included in the top actresses.
Mahima Chaudhary has been in a relationship with Indian tennis player Leander Paes. After living with each other for 6 years, both of them broke up. After the breakup, there were reports that Leander was dating her as well as model Rhea Pillai, on which Mahima separated from him.
