IND vs SL: Eight Close Contacts of Krunal Pandya Including Skipper Shikhar Dhawan Ruled Out for Entire Series

Eight key players of Team India, who were in close contact with Krunal Pandya, have been ruled out of the entire T20 series. The list even includes Captain Shikhar Dhawan. Meanwhile, the other players include Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Manish Pandey, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan. On Tuesday, the Indian team was to play the second T20 match against Sri Lanka. The match was postponed by a day after all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19. Following this, the whole team is now in isolation.

On Wednesday morning, 6 players, who came in contact with Krunal sent to isolation. The list even includes Captain Shikhar Dhawan.  If this happens, then bowler Bhuvneshwar, the vice-captain for the series, will take charge of the team.

12 players available for selection:

Although the cricketers have tested negative in a fresh set of tests, they are likely to undergo another couple of tests before reuniting with the whole squad. Meanwhile, players who are available for selections includes Bhuvneshwar Kumar (capt). Rituraj Gaikwad, Manish Pandey, Nitish Rana, Sanju Samson (wk). Yuzvendra Singh Chahal, Rahul Chahar, Kuldeep Yadav. Varun Chakravarthy, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini and Chetan Sakaria.

In a media statement, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, "The second T20I between Sri Lanka and India originally scheduled to be played on July 27 has been pushed forward by a day and will now take place on Wednesday, July 28.
