Defense Minister Visited 1,000-Bed Capacity COVID-19 Hospital

DRDO prepared the hospital in a record time of 12 days

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited the newly constructed 1,000-bed capacity temporary hospital made to treat COVID-19 patients on Sunday. Officials said that 250 beds in this hospital are in ICU. This hospital was built within 12 days on the Defense Ministry land near Indira Gandhi International Airport. Shah said in a tweet, "Visiting the 1000-bed capacity Sardar Patel COVID Hospital which has 250 beds in the ICU with  Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The DRDO prepared it in a record time of 12 days with the help of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Health Ministry, Armed Forces and Tata Trusts."

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also accompanied Shah and Singh during the visit. Shah said that a team of the Armed Forces Medical Services will run the hospital while its maintenance will be handled by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The Home Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is fully committed to help the people of Delhi in this challenging time and this COVID Hospital once again shows the same resolve. He thanked the DRDO, Tata and Armed Forces medical personnel who came forward on this occasion and helped in handling this disaster. Kejriwal said in a tweet, "DRDO's 1,000-bed corona hospital is ready. Thanks to the central government on behalf of Delhi people. It has 250 beds in ICU. This is needed in Delhi at the moment."

Oxygen facility is available in 10% beds at Sardar Patel Covid Care Center

Apparently, in recent times, Corona cases have increased very rapidly in Delhi. In such a situation, the problem of beds for Corona infected patients was increasing day by day. The Delhi government hopes that after the launch of this Covid Care Center, patients will get better treatment facilities. Oxygen facility is also available in 10% beds at Sardar Patel Covid Care Center. The entire process from recruitment to discharge here is electronic and nurses will always be present here to check patients. At present, the responsibility of all 2000 beds has been assigned to ITBP.
