Delhi: New Rules are made by East Municipal for SPA Centres

Without a degree, diploma certificate in physiotherapy, acupressure, or occupational therapy, now no one will be able to do massage in spa centers. The Eastern Corporation has given the approval to open spa centers in the area on Wednesday with specific guidelines.

The cross-gender spa will not be allowed

Eastern Corporation Mayor Shyam Sundar Agarwal has given advance approval to this proposal. Now the new rules will be applicable to all the sauna centers operating in the Eastern Corporation jurisdiction. All spa centers will be required to comply with the new rule. Under this, cross-gender massages will no longer be allowed in spa centers and sauna facilities will not be provided behind closed doors.

Neither a latch nor a bolt in the rooms

There should be no latches and bolts inside the doors of rooms in spa centers. Self-closing doors will be provided in the spa centers. As well as external doors will be kept open during working hours. All customers visiting the sauna center will be required to present identity cards and register their contacts with phone numbers and ID proofs. Apart from this, sauna centers will open only between 9 am and 9 pm. The spa centers will have separate changing rooms for men and women and the premises will not be used for residential purposes.

You can't get a massage like this

Standing Committee Chairman Bir Singh Panwar told that no person without a degree diploma cannot be engaged in this work. Now, under the new rules related to spa centers, the person doing the massage is required to have a certificate of degree. Diploma in physiotherapy, acupressure, or occupational therapy. All employees must wear an ID card issued by the Center while on duty and must be at least 18 years of age. The corporation will also get the police verification of its owners, managers done before issuing health business licenses to the centers.

Provision for strict action if found indulging in criminal activity

Bir Singh Panwar informed that if any spa center is found involved in any activity related to prostitution, then legal action will be taken as per the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. This can be informed by the customer by calling 112 and 181. In addition, CCTV cameras will be installed at the Spa Center with a recording facility at the entrance, reception, and common areas. The recording will be retained for at least three months. Necessary action will be taken by the Corporation in case of violation of the guidelines.
